Family matters.
In matters involving divorce, and other related family law issues, you want an attorney who wears both the hats of the champion and the counselor. If the attorney is focused only on making the litigation process as difficult as possible for the other side, your best interests and the best interests of the children are not necessarily being met.
The family law attorney must temper her zealous representation of you with one-on-one counseling regarding your legal rights.
The attorney should keep you apprised of the strengths and weaknesses of your positions and work with you to provide options for resolution.
However, if negotiations break down you will want an attorney who is willing to take your case to trial on your behalf.
